Family Enrichment
Canasta Llena:
A 4-session family program that strives to deepen the bond between parents and teens through a day of mutual sharing, ending with a "family resolution" for the betterment of the family. In follow-up sessions, the family is invited to reflect on how they are doing in implementing their resolution and to participate in a community service project, especially one that allows them to share their cultural and/or faith values. Finally, the group reassembles to evaluate the experience and to celebrate.
La Quinceañera - Dreaming a Future of Hope:
Casa Romero's permier retreat experience, featuring a day-long bilingual retreat experience for teen girls and their
mothers that seek to prove a "sacared" environment for the participants to share together, to deepen their relationship and to strengthen their bond by
focusing on intergenerational sharing of memories, wisdom, hopes and dreams.
The Spiritual Journey of Motherhood:
A two month bilingual program providing time and space for mothers to meet, share, relax, reflect and empower each other. Through self-reflection, small group sharing and dynamics, and meditative exercises, moms discover the sacredness of their vocation as they motivate, encouage and support one another. The Spiritual Journey of Motherhood provides immigrant and 2nd generation moms the opportunity to clarify their values, reclaim their areas of giftedness, and discover new ways to integrate these values and gifts into the lives of their families and communities.
Frente a Frente:
Overnight retreats for Spanish-speaking fathers with the purpose of encouraging awareness of their personal and communal strengths, enhancing their capacity to nurture their bilingual/bi-cultural families with harmony and wisdom. The retreats provide Latino fathers the opportunity for self-reflection, examination of their roles as fathers in Milwaukee's Hispanic community, and group reflection time exploring how God's presence is experienced in their lives.
Milestones:
Retreat days for mothers and daughters, focusing on significant moments of transition in the young person's life. Each retreat strives to open paths of communication between mother and daughter, reinforcing faith and cultural values, teaching decision-making skills, and promoting self esteem. The retreats are offered for mothers with daughters about to reach the following milestones: 1) Preparing to enter high school 2) Preparing to celebrate their 15th birthday, or Quinceañera 3) Preparing for indepenence as they get their driver's license and first job 4) Preparing for their high school graduation.

Youth Development
UnPlugged: Programming for Youth:
Casa Romero's youth programming is designed to guarantee a future of leaders by enriching the human development of young people and inspiring them to make the choice to live and serve by their passions, with drive and dignity.
EMMAUS:
A series of 4 afterschool workshops focusing on life missions discernment for teens. EMMAUS guides young people to discern their passions, goals, and
desires for themselves and the contributions they aim to offer the world. A principal component of these sessions provides teens an opportunity to spend time
with MArquette University college students who are familiar with the challenges and opportunities a healthy discernment process can bring.
Real Kids, Real Talk:
One-day retreats for middle schoolers that engage students and build positive school communities through music, lively activities, throught-provoking
small group discussions, prowerful stories, and energetic leaders. Focused on 11-14 year olds, these retreats can be held for the following groups:
- Retreats for Boys - The Knight's Quest:
A series for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys that call young men to realize their gifts and create a personal "coat of arms" to aid them in articulating the vertues that guide their lives.
The boys explore gender roles and discuss the challenges faced by young men today before being commissioned to confront these issues and become positive agents for change in their
communities.
- Retreats for Grils - Real Girls, Real Talk:
In these days for middle school girls, participants discover their inner beauty, identify their gifts, and begin to find their voice. Discussion topics include
self-acceptance and self-image, diversity and uniqueness, friendships and relationships, and breaking down bullying.
- Co-ed Retreats - Breaking Down Bullying:
Facilitated for a co-ed middle school audience, this retreat helps students understand the roles we all play in bullying and the importance of showing respect for
self and others while discovering their courage within to stand up for their beliefs and values.
Heart to Heart Program for High School Girls:
Retreats and formational workshops that recognize the individuality of a maturing teen and the challenges she faces in the midst of a demanding environment of high school. Here we work toward developing leadership and discernment skills while encouraging strong, positive friendships and healthy family relationships. Through guided reflections, small group sharing and leadership projects, the participating teens grow personally and spiritually, and find their voice. The second phase of their formation trains the girls become mentors and retreat facilitators for local middle-school girls, empowering them to become positive influences in their community.
Unplugged for Guys:
Evenings of reflection and retreats for young Latino men promoting relaxation, stress release, and self-care in the midst of the busy life of high school and college. Through a variety of workshop themes and presenters from the community, the participating youth will gain an enhanced sense of wellness and peace of spirit as they learn techniques promoting relaxation, mental focus, and self-care. Considering their personal and communal strengths they will explore their role as young Latino men in the larger community. They will develop an awareness of what it means to be a positive influence for younger Latino boys and be encouraged and guided to develop service projects that inspire younger teens to dream of a positive future.
Art Club:
After-school workshops for 11-14 year old girls, employing art projects as the medium for self-exploration. Through art projects, participating girls explore their perception of themselves and what identifying factors contribute to their uniqueness. As they engage in creative thought processes, or thinking outside the box, they become empowered to engage in creative thinking and express themselves in their own unique way.
Urban Plunge:
A community service retreat experience designed to extend the ideas of culture awareness, social justice, community outreach, and spiritual growth. CasaRomero's
Urban Plunge Program immerses high school and college groups into aspects of urban reality while encouraging a commitment to building a more just world.

Spiritual Formation
Ponerse a Caminar:
A Spanish language retreat series which leads participants to deepen their prayer life by journeying from a more devotional spirituality into one based on meditation, contemplation of the scriptures and discernment. Based on themes from the Spiritual Exercises, each of the retreats leads the participant deeper into silence and the contemplation of Christ as he is found in the Gospels.
From Promise to Resurrection/De La Promesa a la Resurrección:
A 12 week version of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, where through daily reflection on scripture and weekly small group sessions, participants engage in a spiritual journey to find love and serve God in all things. Small groups meet in English and Spanish.
Amar y Servir:
Facilitated in Spanish by graduates of our Acompañantes Espirituales program, Amar y Servir is a six week Lenten "retreat in daily life" experience which gives the participant a taste of Ignation Spirituality through personal
refelection and small group sharing.

Spiritual Mentoring Program:
A two year certificate program for thoes seeking to enhance their spiritual journey, explore our inner divine nature
and the sacred purpose to which we are called. Through refelection and thoughtfuk examination of theology, scripture, psychology and other related skills, the Spiritual Mentoring Program incites compassionate self-discovery and enhances in
participants their capacity to be a spiritual companion for others. CEU's are offered through Cardinal Stritch University for this program.

Holistic Wellness:
Responding to a frequently voiced need, Casa Romero's Holistic Wellness Program has a well-trained team of facilitators who are able to teach methods of relaxation and inner care. Using breathing techniques, meditative (Tai Chi) movements, acupressure, and simple elements of massage, these half-day or full-day workshops helps participants learn self-care and offers teachers dynamics useful in the classroom.
