WHO WE SERVE

Casa Romero’s concern is with people on society’s margins, reflecting Pope Francis’s and Jesuit priorities. All of our retreats and programs strive to affirm the dignity of individuals and nurture their capacities to lead joyful, generous and justice-seeking lives. Casa Romero’s roots are grounded in the Latinx community. Today, more than 20 years later, the majority of our participants are low-income, 1st and 2nd generation Latinos in Milwaukee’s central city. Most of our staff members grew up in this community.

IMPACT STORY

Fatima Jimenez

Casa Romero Renewal Center will always have a special place in my heart, as it took a significant role in my upbringing and left a lasting impact on my life. I was first introduced to the center as a middle school student at Notre Dame School of Milwaukee, where I participated in class retreats. Every year, these retreats helped me learn more about myself emotionally and spiritually, created an avenue for deeper connections with my classmates who now are some of my best friends, and led me to better understand concepts of bullying, healthy friendships, self-love, and many more.

A PLACE TO HEAL, SHARE, AND DISCOVER
Casa Romero offers a safe space for people who have been pushed to society’s margins to gather, pray, share, and learn. We celebrate diverse cultures and the good within each person is affirmed. We nurture each person’s calling because this is the work of liberating the good within each of us.
BECOMING STRONG, LOVING, AND WISE LEADERS
Ignatius Loyola and Oscar Romero both recognized that the way to a better world required freeing people from attitudes and conditions that prevent them from fulfilling their callings. Inspired and informed by these two saints, Casa Romero retreats and programs offer a way for people to grow into the strong, loving, and wise leaders the world needs.
