What's Going on at Casa?
Youth Retreats
Cristo Rey Collaboration
Casa staff recently facilitated an Art and Activism retreat with students from Cristo Rey High School. Cristo Rey is a Jesuit ministry that marries strong academics with valuable work internships for students of modest means. Casa’s A&A retreat marries personal visions, social criticism and artistic expression; culminating in the production of murals.
Middle School Retreats Resume In-Person
Casa’s Carlos Beltran, along with a team of youth facilitators, have returned to leading retreats for Milwaukee’s leading schools that serve Latinx youth: Nativity Jesuit and Notre Dame Academy. We are looking forward to our return to more schools next Fall.

Adult Retreats
Spanish Language Retreat at Oshkosh
Spanish speakers showed their desire to progress in their spiritual lives by once again filling the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh for our annual retreat there. Many thanks to JRH for their gracious hospitality. Small group faith sharing was led by graduates of Casa’s Spiritual Accompaniment Training Program.
Spiritual Journey of Motherhood
With the pandemic refusing to go away, our support groups for mothers have adopted a hybrid format, with some mothers gathering at Casa Romero and others participating simultaneously via Zoom. An investment in a better video-conferencing camera has made this move possible, and now we can include mothers who cannot join
in-person.

Welcome to Sophie
Sophie Rodriguez has recently joined our staff to assist with grants management and some of our arts-based retreats. Sophie grew up in Milwaukee, attended retreats at Casa Romero and became a youth leader. She then moved to Green Bay, studying at St. Norbert’s College. Our position opening happened just as Sophie was looking for an opportunity to move back to Milwaukee. Welcome Sophie!
