Arts Program Interns (2 positions available)
Start/end dates: June 11 – August 14, 2026
Creative and outgoing high school students who enjoy working with others are invited to serve as mentors and co-facilitators for the 2026 Summer Arts Camps. Arts Camp interns will work directly with elementary and middle school youth in a bilingual (Spanish and English) environment. Interns will help lead engaging youth programming that uses visual arts and music as tools for self-expression, creativity, and personal growth. In addition to participating in camp sessions, interns will play an active role in planning and preparing activities throughout the summer. This is a highly hands-on position and is ideal for students who are self-motivated, organized, collaborative, and comfortable taking initiative. Interest or experience in art-making, music, and youth engagement is strongly preferred.
Schedule & Stipend:

Intern schedules will align with Casa Romero's camp hours. For the six weeks when summer day camps are in session, interns will work approximately 35–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. In weeks without an active camp, interns will work up to 5 hours per week to support preparation and planning for upcoming camps.

Start/end dates: June 15 through August 14
Responsibilities include cleaning up simple breakfast items prepared by staff, preparing daily lunch, and managing kitchen clean-up afterward. Depending on the week, meals will be prepared for approximately 12 to 20 youth and staff members. The hourly rate for this position is $15–$18 per hour, depending on experience. Ideally, this person would also be available to work offsite during the first week of the program, when Casa Romero will host an overnight summer camp. The position will otherwise be based at Casa Romero.
Schedule & Stipend:

Monday through Friday, approximately 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (from June 15 through August 14). Some Saturday opportunities are also available.

An energetic, patient, and enthusiastic person is needed to work with our youngest cohort of children at the Summer Music Camp. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, creative, and engaged with children ages 5–8, and who has experience in childcare or youth programming. Responsibilities include coordinating and supporting developmentally appropriate activities that align with the goals and spirit of the music camp while helping to create a joyful, safe, and supportive environment for our youngest campers. Interest in or experience with music and the musical arts is a plus. This is a wonderful entry-level opportunity for someone with limited work experience who is eager to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience working with children in a vibrant community setting.

The Soccer Coach will work as a part of the Soccer Camp Team with the principal responsibility of providing coaching and supervision during the July 20-24 soccer camp for approximately 20 camp participants. This person will work approximately 7 hours per day (approx. 9:00AM - 4:00PM). The stipend for this position is $720/camp.

The Assistant Soccer Coach will work as part of the Soccer Camp Team, supporting the lead coach in providing instruction, encouragement, and supervision during the July 20–24 soccer camp for approximately 20 camp participants. Responsibilities include assisting with activities and drills, helping foster teamwork and sports-person-ship, and ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants.
Schedule & Stipend:

A highly capable and dependable volunteer is needed at Casa Romero to help care for and steward our historic retreat house. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining older buildings, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the community.
Casa Romero’s building is more than just a physical space — it is home to transformative retreats, summer camps, youth leadership programs, family gatherings, and community events that serve adults, children, youth, and families throughout Milwaukee. Especially during the busy summer months, the building experiences significant wear and tear, and we could truly use extra helping hands.
This role is ideal for a retired person, a skilled handy person, or anyone looking to share their talent and time in support of a mission-centered community space. From small repairs and preventative maintenance to helping preserve the beauty and functionality of our historic building, your work would have a direct and lasting impact on the people who run and walk through our doors every day to play and pray.

A caring and dependable gardening volunteer is needed at Casa Romero to help care for our beautiful outdoor spaces and gardens surrounding our historic retreat house. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, finds joy in nurturing green spaces, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the community.
Casa Romero’s gardens are more than simply landscaping — they are places of beauty, prayer, play, reflection, and community gathering. Throughout the summer, our outdoor spaces are used for youth camps, retreats, family programming, quiet moments of reflection, and community events that welcome adults, children, youth, and families from across Milwaukee. These spaces play an important role in creating a healing, peaceful, and welcoming environment for all.
Especially during the busy summer months, we could truly use extra helping hands with watering, weeding, planting, trimming, seasonal upkeep, and helping maintain the beauty and functionality of our garden spaces.
This role is ideal for a retired person, an experienced gardener, or anyone who simply enjoys being outdoors and sharing their talent and time in support of a mission-centered community space. Your care for these gardens would have a direct and lasting impact on the many people who come to Casa Romero each day to gather, heal, learn, reflect, play, and pray.
